Fake comments or not?

Darren Rowse from Problogger is answering readers question about faking comments to help your blog at the start.

If you have just started a new blog (like I started this one) and you are considering if to do something like this or not read what Darren says. He will encourage you to do it old good way. I think I will take his advice. What about you?

Hi

You've got a great blog out there ;) I'm Carl, a 14 year old blogger from Philippines. I blog at http://www.carlocab.com

I saw your blog on John Chow dot com and I must say, your posts were pretty good. Another thing I noticed is that you are promoting your blog through review my blog for a linkback.

So you might be interested in another site promotion opportunity

Full details here:

Carlocab.com currently has a Pagerank of 4 and has a Technorati ranking of 3,336 that grows everyday (REALLY!) not only that. My blog also has an Alexa ranking of 40K! So it's up to you to make a decision. It will only take few minutes to do an entry right? But with a massive reward!

Thanks
Carl Ocab

I think the original post about fake comments is rather interesting... I hadn't thought to fake comments on one's own blog, though I had thought to make up something to comment on in other's blogs to generate people looking at your own blog. Something to ponder, but I don't really feel that it is very ethical (what with the lying aspect of it). If I want to start a conversation, I will post using my own name in the comments on my post and ask my readers questions. But fake comments might work for someone else.

inkblot,

thanks for your comment.

I know what you mean about leaving comments at other blogs. Usually you don't have to lie to post a comments, it's very rare that post is so crappy that there is nothing to comment about. Also, if it is too crappy, you can comment that :)

And good point with the question for readers.

well, as lawrence said there are always things to comment about, even if the blog is crappy you can comment that it is crappy.
I usually like to comment on others blogs but commenting on my own blog "this is NEW" lol
